5 DigitalHealth.London alumni recognised at the HTN Now Awards

The annual HTN Now Awards see the Health Tech Newspaper celebrate innovators, programmes and suppliers who are making a difference through health tech.

The HTN Now Awards 2024 final was opened by an address by Jothi Vasan-O’Leary, Speciality Doctor, Medical Informatics Officer and Outpatient Clinical Lead at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton, who was part of this year’s judging panel. Jothi celebrated the standard of entries and reflected: “the entries demonstrate how digital technology can be a huge enabler to improve patient care when it is driven by the people who are involved in the designing of the solutions.”

Isla Health, an alumnus of our Launchpad and Accelerator programmes, won Health Tech Case Study of the Year. The team developed Community Lesion Imagining Clinics (CLICs) with the Dermatology team at Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust, hosting CLIC outpatients and patient-submitted data. Over 3 months, 438 patients were reviewed through the digital pathway, resulting in a 50% reduction of face-to-face appointments. The project also contributed to the solution’s long term impact, with 489 dermoscopic images captured, coded and de-identified for AI development. It also progressed the Trust’s support for patients in rural areas, with three community hubs set to open. Read the full case study here.

During the ceremony, Accelerator alumnus Kidney Beam was also highly commended for their work on Digital Patient Transformation. Their virtual rehabilitation app supports individuals with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) through clinically proven exercise, education and wellbeing solutions.

Elsewhere, Suffolk and North East Essex Integrated Care Board (ICB), who partnered with Accelerator alumnus SiSU Health to provide four minute health checks across the Integrated Care System (ICS), were highly commended in the Health and Care Support Services Category.

The 2024 edition of the HTN Now Awards saw five DigitalHealth.London alumni receive nominations across seven out of the nine categories. These included Kidney Beam and Isla Health for Digital Patient Transformation; Suffolk and North East Essex ICB with SiSU Health for Health and Care Support Services; Isla Health, Kidney Beam, Feedback Medical and Menwell Limited for Health Tech Case Study of the Year; Kidney Beam for SME/Start-up Innovation; Isla Health and Feedback Medical for Healthcare Improvement/Operations Transformation; and Menwell Limited and Suffolk and North East Essex ICB with SiSU Health for Health Tech Team of the Year.
