Transforming Health Knowledge Search with btrU Health: An AI Tool Developed by an NHS Doctor to Boost Clinical Productivity
Posted on
btrU Health was designed to make searching for trusted medical information faster, easier, and more reliable. Now, the Launchpad company announce their cutting-edge AI-powered search tool, which is available for exclusive early access for medical students, resident doctors and GP trainees.
Delivering safe, effective and consistent care relies on clinicians being able to use clinical guidelines to inform their practice. Unfortunately, inefficiencies in accessing these guidelines currently contribute to significant productivity losses and pose a real risk to patient safety.
btrU Health, a cutting-edge AI-powered search tool, is designed to tackle these challenges. Founded by Dr Ian Soh and supported by the DigitalHealth.London Launchpad programme, btrU Health was originally inspired by lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic.
By addressing challenges like misinformation, inefficiency, and fragmented resources, btrU provides clinicians and students with a centralised, reliable platform to access trusted, actionable information quickly. Now launching early premium access to a select group of clinicians, btrU Health is eager to demonstrate its potential to transform how healthcare professionals interact with clinical knowledge at the point of need.
In today’s healthcare landscape, clinicians spend an inordinate amount of time searching for clinical guidelines – time that could otherwise be dedicated to patient care. The statistics speak volumes:
- Clinicians spend 12–15 hours per week searching for guidelines, costing up to £16,974 per doctor annually and £7 billion in lost productivity for the NHS.
- A significant 74.5% of users report that finding medical information takes too much time.
- 58.5% cite frustration with having to check multiple sources, and 70.9% struggle with locating accurate information.
Why does this inefficiency persist?
- Guidelines are everywhere – scattered across countless platforms, making them frustratingly difficult to locate when needed most.
- Documents are lengthy, constantly evolving, and often presented in user-unfriendly formats.
- As a result, clinicians frequently rely on intuition rather than referencing up-to-date governance, potentially compromising patient care.
The pressing need for a centralised, efficient, and trusted platform is clear. 86.1% of clinicians surveyed by btrU Health want faster access to medical information, and 69.9% of users highlighted the importance of having a single source for all guidelines.
Pingchun Tsai, co-founder and CTO of btrU Health, said:
btrU Health was designed to make searching for trusted medical information faster, easier, and more reliable. Our goal is simple: give clinicians clarity and confidence in every search so they can focus on delivering outstanding care.
Knowledge searches using the btrU Health platform return personalised and referenced information, backed by a curated “walled garden” of local, national and international guidelines that doctors commonly use. This helps to improve patient outcomes through increased standardisation of care, saving doctors time and reducing the risk of clinical negligence.
Clinicians testing btrU Health agree on its benefits
- 58.5% believe it will significantly reduce the time spent searching.
- 56.3% see potential in integrating it seamlessly into their workflow.
btrU Health stands out as a purpose-built platform, ensuring healthcare professionals have the answers they need, when they need them most while prioritising patient safety.
btrU Health’s approach also aligns with the General Medical Council (GMC) Good Medical Practice Guide 2024 and key NHS initiatives such as the Get It Right First Time (GIRFT) programme, the NHS Long Term Plan, and ongoing NHS reform objectives following the Lord Darzi 2024 report.
btrU Health is now available for exclusive early access for medical students, resident doctors and GP trainees ahead of its full launch in March 2025. Be among the first 100 users to experience how btrU Health delivers clarity, confidence, and time back with every health search.
