Applications Open for Cohort Two of the SWL ICS Digital Pioneer Programme

Today, South-West London Integrated Care System (SWL ICS) and DigitalHealth.London open applications for Cohort Two of the SWL ICS Digital Pioneer Fellowship programme, supporting change makers employed by NHS, Local Authority and Voluntary Sector organisations in South-West London to design and lead health and care transformation projects underpinned by digital innovation.

From mastering Agile methodologies to crafting compelling business cases, Fellows will gain the skills and knowledge needed to drive real change through immersive Learning Days, workshops and events covering topics such as structuring evaluations and applying change management principles. The programme also doubles as a learning community, connecting Fellows to like-minded peers, influencers in the system and experts who can mentor them.

The South-West London ICS Digital Pioneer Fellowship builds on DigitalHealth.London’s Digital Pioneer Fellowship programme but is specifically for staff employed by NHS, Local Authority and Voluntary Sector organisations in South West London.

Over 10 million patients and 140,000 NHS and social care staff were estimated to be impacted by the projects of the 37 Fellows who took part in the third cohort of the Digital Pioneer Fellowship programme. 60% of Fellows in the third cohort reported a promotion, new job or secondment during the support and 80% could cite specific examples of positive gain from the network. Across the first three cohorts, 22% of projects accelerated their pace of adoption due to the Fellowship and 55 digital technologies have been adopted in total.

The SWL ICS Digital Pioneer Fellowship has also been shortlisted for the Digital Literacy, Education and Upskilling Award at the HSJ Digital Awards 2024, recognising innovative digital projects transforming care delivery, enhancing efficiency, and improving patient outcomes.

We are excited to continue our partnership with Health Innovation Network (HIN) South London and DigitalHealth.London to deliver the second South-West London Integrated Care System’s (SWL ICS) Digital Pioneer Fellowship. The programme focuses on enhancing digital leadership skills, driving healthcare transformation and establishing a supportive network across the ICS region. After the success of the first cohort and nomination for the HSJ Digital Awards 2024, we are eager to see how the next cohort of changemakers will continue to innovate and improve health and care outcomes for South West London residents.

As a clinician, I recognise the significant challenges that come with implementing new technology in healthcare. Without proper support, guidance, and time for staff to develop their professional skills, it can impact patient care and workflow. We are pleased to announce our continued partnership with the South-West London Integrated Care System (SWL ICS) to deliver the second cohort of the SWL ICS Digital Pioneer Fellowship, supporting Fellows from the NHS, Local Authority and Voluntary Sector in driving transformation within their environments. Together, we can work towards implementing change safely and efficiently, ensuring the best outcomes for all involved.
