TrackActive
NHS problem
Musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions are the leading cause of years lived with disability of any health condition globally. In the UK almost one third of the population suffer from a MSK condition, and account for up to 30% of GP consultations. Musculoskeletal conditions account for the 3rd largest area of NHS programme spending at £5 billion annually. They place large pressures on GP practices and physiotherapy services and increase appointment waiting times for patients. People with MSK conditions are also more at risk of developing mental health conditions and chronic diseases due to pain and reduced physical activity.
The solution
TrackActive is a CE marked Class 1 medical device providing self-assessments, exercise rehabilitation programmes, and education for MSK conditions. Clinical algorithms have been built by experienced physiotherapists to assist people with MSK problems to assess their condition. They will then understand whether they can self-manage their condition or need to see their GP or a physiotherapist. Pilot studies with GP practices have indicated that TrackActive could reduce the need for people to initially see their GP for an MSK condition by up to 51%.
In addition, a library of exercise programmes and educational content is widely accessible for everyone to reduce the risk of developing MSK conditions and promote overall physical health.
Therefore, TrackActive can significantly reduce appointment volumes for GP practices, waiting times for patients, and the costs to the NHS associated with musculoskeletal conditions.
