Quality Improvement Manager, Planned Care

Bio: Phoebe’s role at Chelsea and Westminster Foundation Trust sits within the Service Improvement team, with a drive on Digital Transformation for the Planned Care Division. As part of the Service Improvement and Efficiency team, they work to support the division in identifying and driving quality improvement, streamlining processes and implementing new ways of working.
Project summary: Phoebe is currently the Project Manager implementing a Digital Consent process. Chelsea and Westminster is running a six month pilot of Concentric spanning across two hospital sites. The pilot began with a focus on one specialty, with further roll-out to a minimum of three further specialties within the six months is intended. When signed off beyond the pilot, the focus will be to go Trust wide across the Adult Planned Care Specialties. The desired impact is to improve patient care by reducing the level of risk and unnecessary hospital visits, to improve the efficiency of the patient pathway from Decision to Admit to the Day of surgery, and to increase the level of information provided to patients to allow for fully informed decision making.
Estimated number of patients / staff impacted by the project: All surgical patients treated at the Trust.
Goal(s) for the programme: Phoebe’s goal is to use this external digital programme to challenge her current thinking, teach her new ways of working, and to enable her to immerse herself in an environment of like-minded people who want to use digital systems to improve NHS way of working, not just within their own Trusts but as one NHS unit. She looks to take the teaching sessions and individually apply them to her project, using her current knowledge, and knowledge that she gains, to ensure she implements a Digital project within the Trust that not only improves patient care, and Trust processes, but truly embeds within the Trust’s day to day working, and stands the test of time.
