Digital Pioneer Fellowship project: Developing actionable analytics

For Actionable Analytics, this project will build clinical dashboards for clinicians which provides real-time actionable data to front-line clinicians and managers for three clinical areas as well as dashboards for tracking of early symptoms of infectious disease, powered by the Cogstack Analytics engine which is developed in-house at Kings’ Health Partners.

This architecture forms part of Health Data Research UK and the London LHCRE bid, so any developments in this will exportable to other NHS organisations using this system.

Dr James Teo is a consultant neurologist at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. He has a PhD from UCL Institute of Neurology, and completed his undergraduate degrees at University of Oxford and Royal Free & University College Medical School.

He is the clinical lead of the KCH Cogstack, a clinical analytics platform that has unified 20 years of electronic health records in South East London for advanced Big Data analytics. This system has been used for phenotyping for the 100k Genome, patient safety alerting, operational analytics of patient flow and algorithmic auditing of anticoagulation in atrial fibrillation, and has been cited by in the Chief Medical Officer’s Generation Genome report. As the informatics team lead for the Kings Health Partners Neurosciences Institute for using IT to transform clinical services and the KCH representative for the London site of Health Data Research UK. He is active in traditional clinical research, as chief investigator of a clinical trial using wearable patches for cardiac monitoring in stroke (EPACS) and investigator in a clinical trial of the use of smartphones in Parkinson’s Disease (SMART-PD).

His interest is next generation analytics including signal processing, natural language processing, graph analytics and AI-development. He continues to be an active clinically in hyperacute stroke and acute neurology clinical activity.
