Iona Mind
NHS Problem
One-size-fits-all mental health isn’t working. To deliver on the NHS mental health inequalities strategy, solutions are needed that account for the individual needs of particular groups or populations. Iona Mind works with different patient groups and communities to adapt mental health support to make sure it’s acceptable, inclusive and effective.
The Solution
The Iona Mind platform helps deliver customised mental health support to NHS patients in need. By working with focus groups and patient advocates we make sure our products are acceptable, inclusive and effective for the target population. The Iona Mind platform has been used to create products for veterans, cancer patients, pregnant people and those suffering from long-term conditions. Iona Mind has developed an evidence-informed framework for developing app-based psychological well-being tools based on clinical best practices.
Impact
Iona Mind has trained a number of NHS Talking Therapy services to offer minimal contact support for anxiety and depression as a way to save money and get the most out of their clinicians. Moving to a minimal contact support model enables services to double the number of patients each clinician can see. Outside of talking therapies, Iona Mind has delivered tailored mental health support to Veterans, cancer patients and various religious communities in a way that is culturally sensitive and scalable. Iona has a presence in 36 countries and was the number one mental health app on the Google Play store in 2021.
