Accelerator alumnus AccuRx launches new COVID-19 GP practice tools

Over the weekend, DigitalHealth.London Accelerator alumnus AccuRx has launched two new tools for GP practices in response to the COVID-19 outbreak.

AccuRx provides communications solutions for primary care, allowing practices to communicate with their patients effectively and efficiently, as well as collaborate as a team and coordinate care with other organisations.

Up until now their focus has been in providing SMS tools to GPs but the company decided to build two new products in light of the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak. The decision to create these products was made on Friday 6th of March and by Monday 9th the solutions were being tested and then enabled for 3,600 practices across the country.

The first is video consultation which doesn’t require patients to download an app or create an account, and can simply be initiated by GP practice staff. The second is a COVID-19 screening Florey Survey which allows GP practices to identify any at-risk patients and tell them not to come into the practice.

Sara Nelson, Programme Director for the DigitalHealth.London Accelerator programme, said, “It is great to see an Accelerator alumnus responding so swiftly to the COVID-19 outbreak. AccuRx’s new tools could help GP practices to handle the extra pressures and give patients the ability to speak to GPs from their own homes. Product adaptations developed for clinicians and patients like this are so important for helping to support the NHS in pressured times.”
