NHS problem
Gynaecology and urology represent the fifth-largest elective specialty backlog in the NHS. This post-diagnostic, pre-treatment bottleneck leaves over 560,000 women on elective gynaecology waitlists and 378,188 patients on routine urology lists across England. Patients face diagnostic delays averaging 9 years and 4 months, extending to 11 years for ethnically diverse communities. Lacking structural workplace support during these extended wait periods, patients experience physical deterioration, driving frequent repeat GP consultations and non-elective emergency acute presentations. This severely strains NHS acute care while contributing to a £20.2 billion national economic burden.
Founder story
Farirai Gora, a biochemistry graduate with over 13 years of experience in insurance regulatory and technology transformation, founded We Are Eden after navigating severe dysmenorrhea in silence at work. Experiencing chronic pain without structural support exposed a systemic “fluency gap” where managers lacked the tools and confidence to handle reproductive health challenges.
Organisations lacked the infrastructure to bridge the executive benefits vs junior staff member benefits gap, leading to high attrition.
She managed to inspire a team of 10 developers to build Policy Pulse, an automation tool for workplace reproductive governance, de-risking human capital.
Fari isn’t an NHS staff member.
The solution
Policy Pulse, developed by We Are Eden, is an automated health navigation and dispute prevention tool. We’re a designed as a B2B SaaS compliance engine and employee reproductive health platform. We address health inequities caused by rapidly evolving global workplace legislation. Translating complex reproductive health law into automated corporate governance, compliance, and real-time manager guardrails.
Supporting 72 multi-gender reproductive and urological conditions across all life stages, Policy Pulse bridges the post-diagnostic pre-treatment waitlist gap which has grown in prevalence due to accurate at home test kits.
We automate manual HR workflows through digital manager training and an AI-powered medico-legal companion.
