TYCHO MEDLINK LIMITED
NHS Problem
The need for our innovation arises from the demand for an ‘at-home rehabilitation programme’ for patients with cognitive impairments. This need has arisen from the growing staff shortages in the NHS, with a vacancy rate of 9.7% (133,446 roles vacant) in 2022.
In 2021, the UK incurred £25 billion in dementia-related costs. Cognitive impairments can affect people of all ages, such as those with dementia, individuals with brain injuries, strokes, and Parkinson’s, making it challenging for them to return to normal work. These impairments led to 17 million lost working days in 2021/2022 (Health-and-Safety-Executive, 2023).
The Solution
Tycho MedLink, a London-based company, pioneers digital solutions for individuals facing challenges with dementia and stroke cognitive recovery.
Our innovation digitises existing rehabilitation tasks conducted by occupational therapists (OTs), allowing patients to perform these tasks in a home environment. The unique combination of AI and AR creates an engaging experience through gamified AR tasks and a personalized AI neural network algorithm.
The app overlays virtual models in the real environment, enabling the monitoring and simulation of real-life conditions. Unlike existing options, our product doesn’t require additional equipment and can be easily operated on a phone.
Impact
We aim to empower patients with cognitive impairments to improve their cognitive abilities and enhance clinicians in managing them more efficiently using our Artificial Intelligence (AI) + Augmented Reality (AR) powered app.
