Medhaya

NHS Problem

Medhaya is an AI-powered clinical co-pilot that automates documentation, streamlines patient interactions, and supports clinical decision-making – giving healthcare professionals more time to focus on delivering care.

Founder Story

Medhaya was founded after witnessing the struggles of my aunt, who lives with chronic cardiac arrhythmia and high blood pressure. Despite her ongoing condition, getting timely medical help was nearly impossible; calls to GP practices went unanswered, NHS 111 led to long delays, and A&E visits offered only temporary relief. Experiencing her 36-hour ordeal firsthand revealed how fragmented and inaccessible the system is for over 13 million chronically ill patients in England. Determined to change this, I created Medhaya to make healthcare access simpler, communication seamless, and follow-up care continuous – so no patient has to wait in silence for help again.

The Solution

Medhaya is a UK-based health technology company developing Aila, an AI-powered clinical co-pilot designed to transform healthcare delivery. Aila listens to clinical conversations, generates accurate documentation such as consultation notes and referral letters, and automates administrative workflows including triage, follow-ups, and communication. By integrating seamlessly into clinical workflows, Medhaya empowers healthcare professionals to focus on patients, not paperwork – enhancing efficiency, reducing burnout, and improving the overall quality, accessibility, and sustainability of care across the NHS and private healthcare sectors.
Impact
Medhaya is designed to deliver measurable impact across the NHS by automating time-intensive documentation and communication processes that currently drain clinical capacity. Early pilot evaluations have demonstrated that Aila, Medhaya’s AI-powered co-pilot, can reduce clinical documentation time by up to 70%, saving time per consultation. This directly translates to increased appointment availability, reduced backlogs, and improved patient access.
For a typical GP practice managing 10,000 patients, Medhaya could save approximately 400 clinical hours per month, equivalent to £15,000 – £20,000 in efficiency gains. At scale, across 6,500 GP practices and secondary care, this equates to over £1 billion in potential annual savings to the NHS.
By automating triage, transcription, and referral documentation, Medhaya also reduces the risk of administrative errors and enhances compliance with clinical and data governance standards.
