Horizon Fellowship project summary: With heart failure (HF) prevalence in the UK expected to double by 2040, earlier assessment and timely diagnosis are crucial. Current NICE guidelines recommend brain natriuretic peptide testing for suspected HF, but BNP can produce false positives in conditions such as atrial fibrillation, delaying specialist assessments. The proposed solution focuses on using IntelliSpace Cardiovascular software to prioritise patients with significant left ventricular systolic impairment for urgent review. This project aims to improve HF diagnosis and management, reduce hospital admissions, and align with the Trust’s strategy for high-quality care.
Estimated number of patients / staff impacted by the project: 150
Goal(s) for time on the Horizon Fellowship programme: Through the Fellowship, I hope to network with other colleagues outside my department and division at the Trust and share ideas. I aim to successfully complete my project plans with support from the Fellowship. I am particularly keen to enhance my problem-solving and technical skills through its partnership with DigitalHealth.London.
