NHS Problem
Many children, young people, and families experience stress, anxiety, and low mental wellbeing, with pressures from school, social media, and family life. Evidence shows rising rates of childhood anxiety and parental stress are linked to longer-term mental and physical health challenges, increasing demand on NHS services. Families often lack accessible, practical tools to support everyday wellbeing or safe ways to engage with nature and community. The Digital Family Wellbeing Hub addresses this gap by offering evidence-informed, nature-based, and mindfulness activities, empowering families to nurture wellbeing at home and in the local community, potentially reducing reliance on NHS mental health interventions.
Founder Story
HERE was founded in 2018 to support not only children’s wellbeing but also those who care for them. After meeting through a private London nanny agency in Hammersmith & Fulham, Dana Olson and Jen Armstrong, MSc, combined their expertise to create a more holistic approach to family wellbeing. Since then, HERE has partnered closely with Hammersmith & Fulham Council, delivering mindfulness and wellbeing support through local Family Hubs. The Digital Family Wellbeing Hub is a natural extension of this work, built on years of in-person experience in parenting, family support, mindfulness, and developmental and educational psychology.
The Solution
The Digital Family Wellbeing Hub is designed to help families, young people, and practitioners strengthen wellbeing, mindfulness, and connection through simple, evidence-informed activities. By combining digital tools with nature-based and community experiences, the Hub intends to make wellbeing support more accessible and engaging for everyday family life. The Hammersmith & Fulham pilot connects online resources to local parks, events, and sensory activities, encouraging families to spend 10–20 minutes daily in mindful play or outdoor exploration. Intended outcomes include improved emotional regulation, attention, and curiosity in children; greater parental confidence in supporting wellbeing; and stronger family bonds. By fostering balance, breath, and belonging, the Hub aims to promote early intervention and preventative approaches to family mental health. Over time, it intends to reach hundreds of families, helping to reduce stress-related healthcare needs and complement existing NHS and community wellbeing services.
