Biography: Background in ticketing and event management but switched to stay at home Dad and part time Adult Speech and Language Therapy Assistant when children came along. Subsequently employed as the administrator for the Acute Oncology Team at Kingston Hospital. Main achievements in this role were transforming and digitising the referral and data collection functions of the department. October 2023 to April 2024 – worked on secondment with the Chief Nurse Information Officer during the roll out of a new digital audit interface – providing back end support/analysis and also face to face support and teaching to staff.

South West London ICL Digital Pioneer Fellowship project summary: The patient portal is a web based interface that empowers patients to take control of their treatment at Kingston Hospital, providing a platform to view clinic letters, appointments and test results. The project is really a large programme of work to improve and increase the functionality of the portal. Current areas of focus include PIFU (patient initiated follow up), WLV (waiting list validation) and Radiology resulting amongst others. There are additional pieces of work based around patient and staff engagement with the aim of raising awareness and driving registration/sign up.

Estimated number of patients / staff impacted by the project: 350,000.

Goal(s) for time on the South West London ICL Digital Pioneer Fellowship: This role is a step up for me and so I wish to gain a greater understanding and experience of digitalisation within the NHS. I am hoping to discover and unlock some potential within myself and to develop a clearer vision of where I want to go with my career and how to get there.
