BlackFrame.ai

NHS Problem

45,000 healthcare workers each year are removed from frontline care delivery to assess clinical exams for healthcare students. This is a drain of over 123 years’ worth of working days each year with an additional cost of millions of pounds to the system. BlackFrame.ai provides medical schools with an AI-powered personal tutor that provides automated training and assessment for clinical and surgical skills for students. By deploying the BlackFrame system across the NHS we think we can save £100 million annually by freeing up experts to focus on providing frontline care.

The Solution

BlackFrame.ai provides a BlackFrame with mounted cameras, microphones and an LCD touchscreen which records the performance of a skill. Each performance is uploaded to the cloud where our AI automatically assesses it. Students receive an AI-generated grade and personalised feedback on their performance.

Impact

The BlackFrame system saves time and money by automating training and assessment of clinical skills for healthcare students, freeing up expert humans to focus on what matters most. Deployed across all medical schools, nursing colleges and hospitals the system would save over £100 million annually and free up thousands of healthcare practitioners to focus on delivering high-quality patient care. The BlackFrame system will provide students with a more standardised, fair assessment approach than current methods. It will also provide better quality feedback and thus increase the quality of the educational experience for students training. The BlackFrame system will add £88 million worth of educational value each year for medical schools, nursing colleges and hospitals.
