Anita Ncube
Senior Primary Care Pharmacist
South West London and St George’s Mental Health NHS Trust
Biography: I promote cost-effective, safe, and quality prescribing across South West London through medicines optimisation programs like the Medicines Improvement Scheme and training sessions for new clinical staff in Primary Care. I attend meetings with key stakeholders in various care settings and local authorities, representing the Medicines Optimisation Team. I also participate in clinical network groups for various specialties, adhering to organisational policies such as confidentiality, safeguarding, and health and safety. My work includes updating clinical resources like the ScriptSwitch database and monitoring prescribing data using platforms like ePACT2, PrescQIPP, and Open Prescribing. Additionally, I provide medicines information support to healthcare professionals and assist with incident reporting via Yellow Card and other platforms.
South West London ICL Digital Pioneer Fellowship project summary: I am currently the Lead for the South West London (SWL) Medicines Optimisation Newsletter. This is a monthly newsletter shared to providers across SWL like general practice, community pharmacy, acute providers and mental health trust. At present, the newsletter is created in Microsoft Publisher and shared as a Portable Document Format (PDF) file. This is proving to be inaccessible (as it does not support assistive technology) and difficult to producing (vast amounts of staff hours are spent formatting within Publisher). My role is to navigate the change in moving away from Microsoft Publisher to a different platform to produce, distribute and monitor a more digitally inclusive newsletter.
Estimated number of patients / staff impacted by the project: 1390
Goal(s) for time on the South West London ICL Digital Pioneer Fellowship: Develop leadership skills and facilitate the change in producing and distributing a digital newsletter
