Accelerator Company MyRenalCare Shortlisted for the NHS Parliamentary Future NHS Award
Posted on
Current DigitalHealth.London Accelerator company MyRenalCare has been shortlisted for the NHS Parliamentary Future NHS Award for their transformative work in chronic kidney disease management with the Wessex Kidney Centre, based at Portsmouth Hospital University NHS Trust.
Developed in collaboration with Portsmouth Hospital University NHS Trust, Portsmouth Hospitals Charity, the University of Portsmouth and Kidney Care UK, MyRenalCare was founded by Dr Nicholas Sangala, a Nephrology Consultant based at the Wessex Kidney Centre. Through the app, the renal team at the Wessex Kidney Centre have implemented remote monitoring and digital communication between consultants and patients.
Patients now actively manage their electronic health records, logging vital information such as blood pressure, weight, and symptoms, while blood test results are automatically uploaded. Clinicians can then review this data, make clinical decisions, and provide feedback remotely via MyRenalCare — eliminating the need for in-person, video, or telephone consultations. This enables fully virtual appointments, benefitting both patients and clinicians.
The NHS Parliamentary Future NHS Award recognises individuals or teams who have successfully implemented innovative changes to harness data and digital technology, improving patient access to services and information while enhancing staff support. The award celebrates those embracing advancements in medical technology, data, and connectivity to drive positive change within the NHS.

They can access educational content and videos on the platform, designed to empower them to take control of their health and manage their condition more effectively.
“MyRenalCare has really given me control over how I feel. I can report my symptoms if I am not feeling great or ask questions about my medication. It takes out that necessity of coming to the hospital, which saves time and money, and it helps you to control your disease.
