Brett Hatfield

NHS Navigator

Brett started his career as a registered nurse working on the trauma ward in Perth, Australia. He later moved to Sydney and worked in the accident and emergency department of an inner-city hospital while studying his Master’s in International Public Health. Following graduation, Brett worked as a refugee health nurse for the NSW Refugee Health Service in assessing, referring and advocating for newly arrived people from refugee backgrounds in navigating Australia’s complex healthcare system.

After moving to London, Brett worked for the Sussex Clinical Commissioning Groups in project management on the Digital First programme. Brett led on several digital transformation projects focussed on supporting the digitisation of primary care, including the procurement and implementation of virtual consultation solutions (SMS, video and online consultations), the mobilisation of NHSmail in care homes, and evaluating the patient administration systems of three Continuing Healthcare teams across West Sussex, East Sussex and Brighton and Hove.

Now working as an NHS Navigator, Brett thoroughly enjoys using his clinical and project management background to support small- and medium-sized companies and the NHS in identifying digital solutions that help to improve health and social care services for patients.
