We have been tremendously busy over the last three days at the GIANT Health event. It has been a marathon ride of hosting 49 expert speakers, and delivering knowledge and insights to a mixed audience of innovators, investors and clinicians, with an appetite to learn how to navigate the NHS.

Digital and technology were key themes in the Autumn Budget statement, writes Sarah Shepherd, Policy Lead at DigitalHealth.London. The statement looked beyond Brexit and borrowing to Britain’s leading role in a global “technological revolution”. Meanwhile, commitments to allocate more funding to the NHS will be welcomed, but will not satisfy the demands of an organisation facing exceptional pressure.

They are looking for international Patient Entrepreneurs who are developing innovative ideas and concepts using consumer, medical devices, and healthcare IT aimed at positively empowering and impacting the lives of people living with type 1 or type 2 diabetes.
The Digital Health Technology Catalyst is a new £35 million funding programme, funded through the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund over the next four years. The catalyst has been created to provide a sustainable pipeline of digital health products which will meet NHS needs and support the growth of UK companies. It was one of the recommendations from the Accelerated Access Review. As part of this, Innovate UK will invest up to £8 million in projects that develop new digital technology solutions to healthcare challenges.
