Selling the Gospel: The challenge of interoperability and culture change

Everyday millions of people get cash from machines that don’t belong to their bank, and are using electronic banking to transact online. Why cant we do something similar in healthcare?

We’re joined this morning by Mike Part, Chief Information and Technology Officer for NHS England London. Mike is leading the London Digital Programme, whose team are leading on the development of an information exchange for secure transfer of patient data across the capital.

Mike covers the work he’s currently leading on the information exchange for patient data across London, which has grown out of a response to the London Health Commission. The core of the project is to do what healthcare what digital has done for many other industries.

We cover the challenges facing the interoperability project and ways that Mike’s team are breaking them down.
